Elva De Leon Elva De Leon, 70, of Santa Paula, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 19, 2006 in San Francisco while visiting with family members.Elva was born December 22, 1935 in Los Angeles. While still a child, she moved with her family to Santa Paula, where she grew up and attended local schools.As a teenager, she attended Santa Paula High School, and was chosen as the beauty queen. Elva was an outstanding student, and graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1953.Elva was a loving and devoted daughter to her mother, Celia V. Jimenez. She spent all of her life helping her mother, which included working at her mother’s restaurant “Casa Mañana” from 1960 to 1978. After her mother retired, she devoted her time caring for her.Elva was interested in helping with the Santa Paula Police Department, so she decided to volunteer her time as a member of the Santa Paula Citizen’s Patrol. She also worked as a real estate agent, CPA, public notary, insurance agent, bartender, and a bookkeeper at Cauch’s Drugstore.Elva was a natural artist, and was honored by having her paintings exhibited at the Santa Paula Oil Museum. She also won the Santa Paula Citrus Festival art contest.Elva was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Nava; her first husband, Eleazar Guzman Mora; her second husband, Frank De Leon, Jr.; a son, Jesus Mora; and a daughter, Katrina J. Larson.
Elva is survived by her children, Eleazar Mora, Theresa Lane, Anamaria Vasquez, Linda Arista and Jesus Angel Mora; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine Aguilar and Irma Cusick Maldanado. Elva De Leon’s most precious thing in life was her family.She will be missed.Funeral Mass was held November 25 at St. Sebastian Church, with burial at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements were under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 7th St., Santa Paula, 525-5595.
