UC Hansen Agricultural Center hosts first public event for 2008

The U.C. Hansen Agricultural Center will be open to the public on Saturday, January 26 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The U.C. Hansen Agricultural Center will be open to the public on Saturday, January 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Gardening classes, plant sale, house and garden tours!Featured classes, aimed at the home gardener include:Step 1-2-3 Pruning--9:00 a.m. Learn basic pruning techniques that help maintain size and shape of fruit and landscape trees, and woody shrubs. Learn how these techniques can help trees and shrubs stay strong, healthy, bearing good fruit and flowers. Free.Rose Garden Care--10:30 a.m. From varieties that thrive in Ventura County to introducing beneficial insects, learn the basics for a successful rose garden. Free.
Both classes are taught by U.C. Certified Master Gardeners. Space is limited, reservations required. Call 805-662-6948.Other activities at the half-day event will include: U.C. Master Gardener Plant Sale, self-guided house and garden tours, 9 a.m. to Noon--no reservations required for these activities.The U.C. Hansen Agricultural Center is located on the corner of Telegraph Rd. and Briggs in Santa Paula. Admission to the farm is free, parking available.
