Two juveniles arrested as suspects in Miller Alley shooting

Two Santa Paula juveniles were taken into custody last week as suspects in the shooting of a 20-year-old Fillmore man, an attack that occurred in Miller Alley a few days earlier.

The unidentified Fillmore resident had been helping relatives move items at a Miller Alley residence in the 100 block on February 23, when at about 4:30 p.m. he was shot twice.The shooting followed a dispute, which started in the area of 11th and Main streets involving the suspects and the victim that carried over to Miller Alley. The victim was treated on scene and then transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. Witnesses told Santa Paula Police Department investigators they heard yelling and then six shots in rapid succession.
Lieutenant Troyce Reynolds said SPPD officers observed one of the juvenile suspects, a 15-year-old resident of the city, on February 25, “walking in the 400 block of Santa Paula Street,” and he was taken into custody. “Then the next morning at 7:25 a.m., police located the second juvenile suspect at a house in the 700 block of East Main Street.” The 16-year-old suspect tried to hide under laundry and received scratches when a SPPD K-9 scratched at the pile of clothing looking for him.The investigation is continuing.
