Sara Luque Ruiz
Sara Luque Ruiz of Oxnard, age 91, passed away on Monday night, March 23, 2009, after a brief illness. She was born on December 11, 1917 in Santa Rosalia, Baja California, Mexico.Sara was brought to Santa Paula, California when she was 4 years old. Her oldest brother bought a house for their parents in 1920 for $20 on 13th Street in Santa Paula, and the house remains standing to this day.When her parents Martin and Maria Luque died in the early ‘60s, they left around 200 direct descendents. Sara out lived all her family and was the last survivor of one of the largest families in Ventura County. Her daughters and grandchildren took good care of her, which contributed to her reaching her 90s. She was never sent to a rest home, not even for rehab. She was loved by all her family.Sara is survived by two sons, Richard Ruiz and Roberto Ruiz; five daughters, Cecilia Rodriguez, Yolanda Alvarez, Ofelia Ramos, Rosa Madrid and Irene Ulloa; 38 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family’s special thanks go to the family of Ramiro and Yolanda Alvarez, granddaughter, Patty Cruz and husband Trini Cruz, and great-grandson Daniel Cruz and sister Lauren Cruz, who took good care of her for the past seven years at their home.Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m., at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard, led by a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation.
