Aguilar is also charged with two counts of robbery in connection with the robbery of a gas station in Fillmore that occurred Dec. 11.In addition, Aguilar is charged with attempted robbery with the use of a firearm stemming from an incident that occurred in Santa Paula on Dec. 12, two weeks before Odle was gunned down at the Circle K where he was employed. That Aguilar is a suspect in the Fillmore robbery and attempted robbery in Santa Paula comes as no surprise as both incidents involved the brandishing of a rifle by the suspect, a weapon not normally involved in such crimes where a handgun is more commonly a perpetuators’ weapon of choice. The attempted robbery in Santa Paula occurred at Central Market, located in the 1100 block of East Main Street, shortly after 11 p.m. but a clerk was able to scare off the armed man and his male companion. In both the Fillmore and Santa Paula incident the armed suspect was described as wearing dark clothing and using a bandanna to hide his face.A video from the Circle K surveillance camera showed two people in hooded sweatshirts entering the store before Odle, who was holding a cordless phone and believed to be calling 9-1-1 for help, was shot. When Aguilar was arrested in late February a 17-year-old Fillmore boy was also taken into custody and released pending further investigation.
