Mill St., Santa Paula) from 5 to 9 p.m.From cattle barons and cowpokes to pioneer women and saloon gals, all “fun-slingers” are invited to claim a stake in a unique fundraiser when the nonprofit Santa Clara Valley Hospice/Home Support Group opens the doors to the Old West.The only end of the evening Live Auction item is a winner: a visit to the Old West’s Panguitch Lake, Utah, where the lucky top bidder and a guest will enjoy three days and two nights in their own private cabin overlooking the glorious lake, whose Native American name means “Big Fish.”The lucky winners - who must arrange their own transportation to enjoy the week of August 24 only prize - each day will be served three gourmet meals and snacks prepared by Susan Dollar, famous in the Santa Clara River Valley - and Utah - for her cooking!A fly-fishing instructor will supply all equipment and insider tips on how best to land the big ones as you spend each day on a private boat. Winners will also be able to explore scenic aspen and pine groves as they stroll through Beaver Dam Village, just minutes from Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks.Robin and Steve Smith and Susan and David Dollar have donated this special auction item in the memory of Mason Dollar, Joy Brockus Rogers and Ed Ilhareguy.Tickets to Western Casino Night are only $65 per person in advance, $75 at the door ($40 of the ticket price is tax deductible) ... and remember, there’s always a last minute “stampede” by those who don’t want to miss out on this fun event.
Cocktails will start the evening featuring Western-style hot hors d’oeuvres while guests enjoy a courtesy glass of wine, beer or soda - but no sarsaparilla - followed by a gourmet Chuck Wagon dinner, all accompanied by musical entertainment on the wide-open spaces outside the Inn.Also included in the ticket is $50 play money.
