Ruth L. Hudson
Ruth L. Hudson, 91, passed away on March 12, 2001 in Santa Paula after a short illness.She was born in San Francisco on August 11, 1909. Her family was of pioneer stock and came across the continent in covered wagons in the 1860s, settling throughout California. Ruth moved to Santa Paula in the 1940s.A member of Eastern Star No. 185 and past matron, she received her 50-year pin. She was employed by the City of Santa Paula as city clerk for 20 years. She attended and was a member of the Santa Paula First Presbyterian Church.She is survived by her two sons, Richard and Robert Tudor; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.Ruth enjoyed life and wanted to live longer; she was a fighter and would not give up. We attribute this to her pioneer spirit. We love her and miss her deeply.Graveside services were held March 17 at Santa Paula Cemetery, with a memorial service following at Santa Paula First Presbyterian Church.Services under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, Santa Paula.Rosemary Howlett
Rosemary Howlett, age 78, of Santa Paula, passed away March 15, 2001 following a lengthy illness. She was born January 18, 1923 in Fullerton, and was a 19 year county resident, coming from Riverside.Mrs. Howlett worked as a telephone operator for Pacific Bell in Riverside for 23 years, retiring in 1982. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and an ordained elder, a member and past president of the Santa Paula Friends of the Library, a tutor for six years with the FLAIR program, and an avid reader.She is survived by her husband, Stan Howlett of Santa Paula; daughters, Susan (husband Gary) Buckridge of Ventura, and Nancy (husband Ron) Oldenkamp of Roseville; son David (wife Carol) Howlett of Riverside; and five grandchildren.Graveside services were held March 19 at Santa Paula Cemetery, Elmarie Parker officiating.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Friends of the Library of Santa Paula.Arrangements under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, Santa Paula.
