United Way receives funds from Monsanto

United Way of Ventura County announced today it has received $14,350 from the Monsanto Fund - a private foundation and the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company - to support its Community Impact Fund which focuses on three vital areas of need in Ventura County: Education, Income and Health.

“Monsanto Fund’s support of United Way is important,” said David M. Smith, president and chief executive officer of the United Way of Ventura County. “The Fund’s contribution and commitment to United Way will help significantly as many people in our county face the challenges of surviving in tough economic times.”

The Monsanto Fund is the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company. Incorporated in 1964, the Fund’s primary objective is to improve the lives of people by bridging the gap between their needs and their resources. The Monsanto Fund is focused on grant-making in three main areas: nutritional improvement  through agriculture; science education, primarily on professional development for teachers; and improving the quality of life in communities where Monsanto employees live and work.
