Papa Chuy truly enjoyed life! He was an avid dancer, loved music especially corridos, baladas and boleros and with the strum of his guitar, he could entrain you for hours. A big sports fan, especially boxing; he could name you boxers and their stats of many eras. In his younger years, pool halls throughout Ventura County recognized “Chuy” as an excellent pool player. His side kick was brother in law Leo Valdivia; they are now once again “racking them up!” Let’s not forget that Papa Chuy also liked to play his favorite card game “Five Card Stud” or better known as “Garañona” to his sons, grand kids and friends.

Papa Chuy was preceded in death by his parents Salome and Tomasita Frutos and baby sister Nicolasa Frutos. Because he was orphaned at the age of 9, his Madrina Agustina Frutos who cared for the family, also preceded him in death in 1971.

Papa Chuy was very proud of his 29 grandchildren, his 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves behind numerous in-laws, nephews and nieces from the Valdivia and Frutos families that he was very fond of.

Papa Chuy’s family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks do Dr. Constantine, Dr. Shrock and all the medical staff both at Santa Paula Hospital and Vista Cove Care Center for their warm and professional care.
