More seismic activity with micro-earthquake west of Santa Paula

There was more seismic activity late Thursday evening near Santa Paula, but not in the same general area of activity experienced less than a week ago. 

The 1.7 magnitude earthquake, considered a micro-quake by experts, hit June 14 at 11:24 p.m., six miles west-southwest from Santa Paula. The location of the earthquake was 34.310°N, 119.151°W and the epicenter’s depth was measured three miles below the surface.

According to the California Integrated Seismic Net, which includes the U.S. Geological Survey and Caltech among other agencies, the activity was five miles east-northeast from Ventura, five miles north from El Rio and eight miles north-northeast from Oxnard.

On Friday, June 8 at 8:06 p.m. a 1.7 magnitude mini-earthquake struck three miles south-southeast of Santa Paula. The location of the mini-shaker was 34.315°N, 119.037°W at a depth of 16.1 miles.

On Sunday, June 10, a 2.7 magnitude shaker occurred at 1:25 p.m. 10 miles north northwest from Santa Paula. The location was mapped as 34.498°N, 119.109°W at a depth of 4.2 miles.
