McClain makes Conference first team

Former Santa Paula High School football star Zach McClain was one of five First Team selections to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference All-KCAC football team From Kansas Wesleyan University.

Kansas Wesleyan placed 17 individuals in 18 spots on the 2012 All-KCAC football teams as selected by the coaches of the conference. The Coyotes had five First Team selections, three Second Team selections and ten Honorable Mention selections.

McClain, a junior receiver at SPHS, led the Coyotes with 844 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns in 2012. He was ranked 12th in the KCAC in receptions per game with 3.8 per contest, and was ranked tenth in the KCAC in total receptions with 42. He ranked fifth in the KCAC in receiving yards per game at 76.7.

Nationally, McClain ranks in the Top 50 in six categories - Total Receiving Yards (844 - 16th), Receiving Yards per game (76.7 - 18th), Total Scoring Touchdowns (64 - 41st), Total Scoring (64 - 41st), Scoring per Game Touchdowns (5.8 - 46th) and Scoring per Game (5.8 - 47th). McClain is close to becoming one of the best receivers in KWU history, as he became the career leader in receiving this season with 1741 yards. He needs just four catches to become the all-time receptions leader and five touchdowns to become the all-time receiving touchdowns leader for the Coyotes.

Wesleyan finished the 2012 season 6-5 overall and 6-3 in the KCAC, finishing tied for third place with Saint Mary in the final conference standings.
