David M. Salas
David M. Salas passed away Tuesday, July 29 at the age of 67.David was born January 9, 1936 in Santa Paula, and was a resident for 67 years. Employed in the construction industry, David retired after 37 years of working through Local #585.David is survived by his loving wife, Margaret D. Salas of Santa Paula. He is also survived by daughters Patricia Guerrero of Ventura, Silva Salas (Alan Braff) of Oxnard, and Susan Salas Romero (Anthony Romero) of Santa Paula; brothers Florentino Martinez, Sam Salas Sr. (Annetta), Victor Salas Sr. (Grace), and Robert Salas (Josie); sisters Toni Kennedy (Herald Kennedy), Stella Russell (Dick), Alyce Guevara (Henry), and Pastor Lydia Taylor, all of Santa Paula; grandsons Gilbert Guerrero and Matthew Guerrero; and great grandson Ethan.A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 2 at 11 a.m. at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church with Pastor Jose Vindel and Pastor Marty Olivas officiating.Interment will be private.The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, 525-5595.Leona “Bridget” HartwickLeona “Bridget” Hartwick crossed through the shamrocks in true Irish tradition on July 29, 2003. Greeting her were her parents, Sadie and Harry Chambers, sisters Dorothy and Rose, and brothers Earl and Bruce. United, again, as was the Chambers’ way as they sang and danced to familiar Irish tunes.Bridget was born November 9, 1918 in Johnstown, PA and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio during the Great Depression. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy, where she was the captain of the ladies basketball team. Bridget later married Raymond Hartwick. They raised their family, daughters Sharon Bullene, Susan Hartwick-Sauer and Joan Aston and son John Hartwick in Ohio, and later ventured to California.Grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends will all miss her quick wit and love of a good-hearted debate, politics being one of her favorite subjects. Being an avid reader, Mum was well versed in her point of view.May the road rise up to meet you,May the wind be always at your back.
