The Santa Paula JV Cardinals met up with a brick wall Friday otherwise called the Carpinteria Warriors. Carpinteria won the game, 45-0.
The Cards tried to make some gains, but couldn’t get past the Carpinteria defense. Santa Paula quarterback Bobby Benavides, along with wide receivers Bobby Perez, Jose Ramos, Carlos Acosta and Andrew Carrera as well as running backs David Prado and Max Montoya all contributed to the JV offensive effort.Carpinteria scored their first touchdown early in the first quarter, after the Cards were forced to punt on a fourth down. That was pretty much the story for the remainder of the game, with the Warriors scoring on almost every possession. For the homecoming game this Friday, Santa Paula hosts Bishop Diego.
