Carpinteria overpowered the Santa Paula JV Friday for a 35-8 win on the football field.
Things looked good at the start of the game as the Cards moved the ball towards the Warrior’s goal. Rafa Aguilera pushed the ball to within inches of the goal line but couldn’t get it across and Carpinteria took possession of the ball.It took the Warriors most of the first quarter to score, as the Cardinal defense held them back. They finally scored with 1:17 on the clock. With a good point after kick Carp took a 7-0 lead. The Warriors scored twice in the second quarter and ended the half with a 21-0 edge. A TD in the third and another in the fourth quarter ended their drive to win.Johnny Rodriguez got the Card’s only TD with 2:19 left in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Ben Kolbeck took the ball into the end zone for the two point conversion.
The JV travels to Bishop Diego Thursday for a 3:00 p.m. game.
