Ralph Bering Busch, Jr., M.D. Ralph Bering Bush, Jr., M.D., passed away at home on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, with his family at his side. He was the firstborn to Ralph Bering and Wilma Makley Busch on June 23, 1922 in Detroit, MI.His elementary and high school years were spent in Cincinnati and St. Louis areas of the Midwest. He finished college in three years at the University of Wisconsin (Madison), and graduated in 1945 from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, MO.He spent four years with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. Upon leaving the Navy, he interned at USC’s Los Angeles County Hospital, specializing in anesthesiology. He practiced the first 10 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank.He met and married Deborah (Deedee) Bennett of Palm Springs, CA in 1959. With country life beckoning, he moved his growing family to Ventura County in 1961.Ralph and his partner, M. Kathleen Belton, M.D., were the first anesthesiologists to practice in the county in the 1960s, covering St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard, Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, San Buenaventura Community Memorial Hospital and, on occasion, Ojai Hospital. After practicing in Santa Paula for 20 years, he moved to Community Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 1989. He was greatly respected and liked by his peers.Dr. Busch was a past member of the California and American Societies of Anesthesiology, Ventura County Medical Society, Community Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, Ventura County Museum of History & Art Board of Directors, and Berry Petroleum Co. Board of Directors. He was a 45-year member of Saticoy Country Club.Ralph is predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Wilma, brother Edward, one nephew, and two grandnephews. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Deedee, and their six children and spouses: Ralph (Trey) and Mindy, Pete and Gaby, Jeff and Sandi, Greg and Pam, Ellyn (Lyn) and Sean Essig and Frank (Paco) and Patty. Also 18 grandchildren: Bering, Annin, Sydney, Mariel, Delia, Monika, Casey, Charlie, Henry, Megan, Natalie, Max, Bennett, John, Brooke, Jack and twins Alexis and Hailey. Others surviving are brothers and their spouses: Tom and Suzie, Bill and Nancy, Bob and Janis, and sister-in-law Udell, as well as in-laws Peter and Juanita Bennett, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.The family wishes to thank those of ProCare Hospice for their wonderful concern and care, as well as Drs. Gail Simpson, Lynn Kong, Tom Q. Kong, Cedric Emery and Tom Fogel.A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at the Sacred Heart Church, 10800 Henderson Rd., Ventura.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Ralph’s memory be made to the Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation, 147 N. Brent St., Ventura, or the Museum of Ventura County Endowment Fund, 100 E. Main St., Ventura.Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society.
Ireland Elizabeth KellyMay 16, 2007Graveside services were held on May 22, 2007 at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura for Ireland Elizabeth Kelly, beautiful infant daughter of Melissa and Aaron Paul Kelly of Ventura. She will be forever remembered by her brother, Ethan Paul Kelly. Also sharing loving memories is great-grandmother Jacqueline Renee Kelly of Ventura; grandparents, Steve Branson, Carol Roland, Cynthia DeMode and Mark Brickman, and Cynthia and Bill Kelly; aunts and uncles, Summer and Scott Schaefer, Heather and Jasun Branson, Erika Suzette Kelly, Beverlee and Michael Nagata, and Janice and Bill Kelly; along with many wonderful cousins and family members. May Ireland’s cherished memory be our blessing and bring us peace.Roberta McKinleyRoberta McKinley, 69, of Valley Springs, California, passed away at her home on May 22, 2007. She was born December 27, 1937 in Etowah, Arkansas, and was a Valley Springs resident for a few months.Roberta had been married to Robert McKinley for 43 years before he passed away. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, camping, and especially playing Bingo. She also enjoyed being around all of her family as much as possible.She will be dearly missed.Roberta is survived by her children, Pamela King of Bremerton, Washington, Carol King of Redding, CA, Bobby McKinley of Valley Springs, Suzanne McKinley of Monterey, and James McKinley of Taft; brothers, Bob Caples of Oklahoma, Richard Caples of Taft, Cecil Caples of Oklahoma, Richard Caples of Taft, Mike Caples of Arizona, Stephen Caples of Tennessee, and David Caples of Bakersfield; sisters, Mary McClure and Sarah Madden, both of Bakersfield, and Donna Lamey of Piru; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by brother Sherman Caples and sisters Cassie Neel and Yortis Warman.There will be a private inurnment.
