JV puts up good performance at Nordhoff

The Cardinals JV made a good showing Friday on the Nordhoff football field, but still left with a 48-14 loss. The Rangers scored first with 8:45 left in the first quarter. Cardinals’ Bryce Belgum and Fabian Amezcua moved the ball into Nordhoff territory and Carlos Castanon took the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. The Rangers came back with a second TD and again Castanon scored for Santa Paula. A two-point conversion try by Mike Vera was successful, giving the Cards a 14-13 lead.Nordhoff struck again before the half, going into the break with a 21-14 advantage.The Cardinal JV lost their drive in the second half as Nordhoff went on for the win.
