CEDC, an affordable housing community development corporation, is celebrating its Silver Anniversary with a free community carnival and picnic for the many families and partners who have worked with the organization since its incorporation in 1981. The no-cost event includes food, live entertainment, Cumulus Media DJ’s, games for children, raffle prizes, and presentations by local non-profit organizations and artists. Attendees represent the more than 30,000 people CEDC has assisted through its affordable housing developments and services.“On this momentous occasion, we wanted an opportunity to celebrate with the hard-working individuals and families who live in CEDC developments and with the many people who have supported CEDC. We are tremendously thankful to all of them for contributing to our great success over the years,” says Rodney Fernandez, CEDC’s founder and Executive Director. CEDC will also host an anniversary dinner on Friday, September 15 at the Camarillo Ranch to raise money for Cabrillo’s first-ever endowment.Speakers at Saturday’s “block party” event include, among others: Carl Morehouse, Mayor of the City of Buenaventura; Steve Bennett, Supervisor, District 1, County of Ventura; Zeeda Daniele, CEDC’s president of the Board of Directors; and Rodney Fernandez, Executive Director of CEDC.
