Rosie Leidig wins $1000 Mupu 4-H Barbara Wilson Scholarship

Rosie Leidig, a nine-year member of the Mupu 4-H Club, won the first annual Mupu 4-H Barbara Wilson scholarship. Rosie will be attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the fall. Because of the generous donation Barbara Wilson made to the Mupu 4-H Club, the club will be able to offer this scholarship yearly.
Rosie has been in many projects in 4-H, rabbits nine years, market lamb eight years, community service four years, drama two years, cooking two years, sewing two years, needle arts one year, hiking one year, rocketry one year, snail mail one year, and presentations one year.Rosie was the Mupu 4-H president, and has also served a vice president and secretary. She was a teen leader of the lamb project and the community service project. Rosie was also an organizer of the yearly Christmas party.Rosie was very active in the Ventura County 4-H. She was the 2004-2005 Ventura County All-Star. She organized the Ventura County Fair Awards Ceremony, and was an organizer of the Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat program. She helped plan Food Fair. She was active in the Small Animal Project Development Committee. She also helped organize a booth at the Monarch Festival.Rosie was very involved with the community service projects. She helped make birthday cards for elderly people. She put together bags for Interface and Habitat for Humanity. Rosie was the driving force behind the monthly park-cleaning project at Veteran’s Park, and the Fuzzy Friends project to collect and donate stuffed animals to the fire department for traumatized children.
Other activities Rosie participated in include softball, cross-country and soccer. She was editor for the Saint Bonaventure school newspaper, The Scrolls. She graduated from Saint Bonaventure in June.The 2nd place winner was Logan Burkhart. This is the second year he has raised a pig to show at the Ventura County Fair with Mupu 4-H. Logan is also active in the Boy Scouts, Varsity Football, and Varsity Volleyball. He also will be attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the fall. Logan graduated from Buena High School in June.
