At approximately 2:49 a.m. on November 13, the SPPD received a “phone call from a citizen reporting suspicious activity at the west end of the field on airport property,” noted Cooper. “Quick response by patrol officers in the area were able to locate a subject wearing dark clothing,” just north of the taxiway.“As officers were attempting to make contact with the suspect, he fled on foot but was caught a short time later” by Officer Matthew Alonzo. The suspect, 25-year-old Mario Ruiz Calvillo of Santa Paula, was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, prowling, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property. Cooper said that Calvillo is “currently on probation for burglary.”Calvillo had a utility knife and flashlight when taken into custody, as well as “personal possessions of a non-resident in his possession,” said Saviers. Calvillo was transported to the SPPD Station for booking, and then to Ventura County Jail.
