According to Santa Paula Fire Captain Dan Campos, two department engines responded to the scene of the crash that occurred “just before 10th Street.” A third Ventura County Fire Department engine was cancelled, as the incident proved to be “pretty simple... the one person in the vehicle was semi-trapped and we had to use a system to get him out. The doors wouldn’t open because the truck landed upside down on its cab.”The driver, 41-year-old Jose Cordero of Santa Paula, was extricated in a matter of minutes. “He appeared to be uninjured, but we always make sure and check them out” before asking that a medical release be signed, which Campos said Cordero did. Campos added that Santa Paula Fire Department engines remained on scene “for about 35 minutes.”The stretch of Highway 126 at and in the area of 10th Street has been the scene of numerous accidents, including those where the vehicle overturns or goes over the side of the freeway.
