Cardinals take on Carpinteria in last pre-league basketball contest

The Cardinal boys’ basketball teams hosted Carpinteria Tuesday night, in the final pre-league match-up of the season.
The freshman team led throughout their game. They cruised to a 69-49 victory over the Carpinteria Warriors.
Scoring for Santa Paula: Gabriel Diaz 24, Tim Garcia 18, Joshua Garay 12, Daniel Perez 6, Brandon Casas 5, Jesse Obiols 2, and Fidel Estrada 2.
The JV lost to the Warriors by a score of 51-47. The Cardinals trailed throughout the contest but lost by a mere four points. Scoring for Santa Paula: Sunny Jackson 13, Eddie Castillo 12, Steven Kohr 10, Alfredo Rafael 4; Milo Solis, Francisco De Jesus, Hayden McClain, and Adam Aguilera each had 2 points apiece.
The varsity lost to Carpinteria 57-42. Scoring for Santa Paula, Taylor Casas 14, Eduardo Jimenez 12 before fouling out of the contest at the beginning of the fourth quarter; Cesar Correa 8, Jessie Aguilar 5, and Juan Martinez 3.
Santa Paula hosts Fillmore beginning at with the freshman at 4:00 p.m. Friday, JV at 5:30 p.m., and varsity at 7:00 p.m.
