“The Hueneme Tournament was successful from an experiance point of view,” said Lady Cardinal Coach Vanessa Lowe. “It helps you realize where the level girls basketball has risen to today. I took a team of mostly freshman and sophomores who in any other league would be playing at the JV level and gave them the opportunity to play some of the best schools in the county. Now the girls have had a chance to see what level they must rise to to be competitive in this county. We also played without a key player Yesenia Mancilla and her absence was felt. Freshman Lupita Ramirez stepped up her game throughout this tournament scoring double digits in 2 of the 4 games. With their continuous hard work and dedication to SPHS Lady Cardinal basketball and it’s coaching staff these girls will rise to the top.”
