A training officer for five years, Det. Koranda is widely respected for his strong work ethic and positive attitude.A member of the Major Crimes Unit for three years, Det. Koranda has been involved in many high-profile cases, including the 1998 murder of store keeper Mirna Regollar. During the investigation into the Regollar homicide, Det. Koranda and the team of investigators developed the leads that led to solving the 1993 murder of Jesse Strobel of Ventura, a case that stumped Ventura Police due to the misinformation garnered from what turned out to be an accomplice in the crime. Det. Koranda participated in the investigation into the Nov. 7 shooting death of Jeanne Orozco; the suspect, Isaac Lara, was arrested days later. “Det. Koranda is a tireless investigator with a memory like a computer chip,” said Ofc. Coffelt, “just an amazing officer.”Det. Koranda and his wife, Joann, have been married 13 years and have three children, daughter Lindsey, 9, and 3-year-old twin boys, Neil and Ryan.Dispatcher Rich Randolph, was initially hired by the SPPD as a Reserve Officer in 1995. In 1997, he began filling in as a dispatcher part-time and in 2000 became full-time for an injured colleague.He is perhaps best known as the National Director and founder of the Cops ‘n’ Jocks program, which matches members of law enforcement with school athletes. The rapidly program is co-sponsored by the SPPOA and is nationally recognized for its efforts on behalf of youth, including an annual law enforcement academy for young people. Randolph, an Oxnard resident, is a criminal justice instructor at Agoura High School on a part-time basis; he is single. “Rich goes out of his way to help the officers, including screening warrants to not only help us, but to get the bad guys off the streets,” Ofc. Coffelt noted.Reserve Police Officer of the Year Dave Grove has been with the SPPD since 1996. A 1990 graduate of the Rio Hondo Police Academy, Grove is considered a department asset and aspires to be a full-time Police Officer; he is considered a role model to his fellow reserves. Grove and his wife of six years, Twila, live in Thousand Oaks. “Dave is an ex-Marine and has that ethic where he never complains, just there for the officers to do whatever he is asked,” said Ofc. Coffelt.
