Santa Paula plays their next four games at home, starting Friday against Hueneme at 4:30 p.m.
It was a back and forth punting contest for the first quarter of Saturday’s JV game against Bishop Diego.
Neither team made much headway until the second quarter when the Santa Paul JV scored their first touchdown. Alexis Lira took the ball for 25 yards to score. The extra point kick was good and Santa Paula took a 7-0 lead. Minutes later Eddie Cardenas moved the ball to the Bishop 5-yard line and then proceeded to score. The point after kick missed. As the quarter neared an end Ramiro Montano took a throw from quarterback Christian Garcia for a 20-yard run and another Santa Paula TD. With a good extra point kick The SP Cards took a 20-0 edge.
Bishop finally scored in the 4th quarter. Santa Paula started another drive but the quarter ended.
