Backstage at SPTC (Santa Paula Theater Center), announces open auditions for Full Frontal Humanity, a collection of one-act plays. All roles are open and many actors will be cast in more than one play.
Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24, at 7 p.m. at the Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 S. 7th Street. No appointment necessary and no need to bring a photograph.
Auditions will consist of readings from the scripts, which may be found online at www.santapaulatheatercenter.org and will also be available at the audition. The website has specific information regarding character breakdown. If you have further questions, please call John McKinley, at (805) 708-6469.
The one-acts will run three consecutive weekends beginning Friday, June 1 and closing Sunday, June 17, nine performances total, with a special Thursday performance on June 7. No performance Saturday, June 9. Rehearsals will begin immediately upon being cast.
The Stories:
“Trinkets” - A middle-aged couple, scraping to get by, has their lives turned inside out by a mysterious lamp that seems to grant wishes, but not in the way they hoped it might.
“And God Said to Abraham Kill Me a Son” - Searching for love and eating Sour Skittles at the bus stop… and trying not to get pepper sprayed.
“Turn Signals” - Two women in a fender bender find they have something in common - way too much in common.
“In Defense of Nice” - A happy woman’s sense of contentment is challenged when she receives a flier from a homeless woman that reminds her that “God Is Watching.”
“The Stars in Illinois” - Two young women in Los Angeles, living with the reality of wildfires and the threat of The Big Quake, muse on life, living, and winning the Lotto.
“Finding Ojai” - A high-powered businesswoman finds herself in Ojai, where she meets a bartender who recommends that she unwind and appreciate what’s around her.
