Officer Reynolds, a Citizens Patrol Training Officer, “Came into his own being a Traffic Investigator. . .some accidents are nothing, but when a major accident occurs especially with a fatality,” a highly trained investigator is required.Chief Gonzales said Officer Reynolds has “distinguished himself,” with his accident scene and follow-up investigative skills by examining the vehicles, taking measurements, checking tire surfaces, road makeup, weight impacts, other matters related to the cause of the incident.Officer Reynolds determined that the driver of a van was exceeding the speed limit when her vehicle crossed the center divider and killed two people in a second vehicle. “He had a forklift come in and recreate where the cars were,” at the of impact, noted Chief Gonzales.Officer Reynolds also works with the city engineering department in road design and improvement.Selected for the Public Safety Officer of the Month by his peers, Chief Gonzales noted that several SPPD officers are “a pretty good size, but when we go to bar fight who we first send in is Officer Reynolds!”“I’ve been here a long time and really love Santa Paula,” said Officer Reynolds, who was accompanied to GMSP! by his daughter, Troi, 14. “I appreciate this award.
