Coach Teojua Sanchez is extremely excited about this upcoming football season. He Said, “We had a productive scrimmage versus Calabasas, a team that competes in Division 1 of high school football. This year team is more committed and is determined to get Santa Paula Football back on track. The commitment is there and we just need to stay healthy.
There are high expectations around campus for this year’s football team. We are returning 9 offensive starters from last year’s team. Junior, QB, Christian Garcia (1st Team All-Tri-Valley as a sophomore) will return as the starter. Junior, WR, Daniel Kohr (1st Team All-Tri-Valley as a sophomore) will lead the receiving corps. The offensive line returns 4 out of the 5 starters, led by Seniors J’Sean Johnson and Mark Ayala. There are several players competing for RB, Senior JC Magana, Junior, Eddie Cardenas, and Sophomore, Noah Magana. This year’s offense should be explosive and score several points throughout the season. This is by far the most talented offensive team I have had during my tenure as Head Coach.
The defense will be lead by Senior, LB, Shane Zavala a 3-year varsity letterman. Shane has done a great job leading the defense throughout the off-season. Senior, DB, Ramiro Montano will lead the defensive backs this year. Senior, DL, Christian Garcia will take charge of the defensive line. All three seniors had a tremendous off-season. The defense is vastly improved from last year’s squad. Defensive Coordinator, Myke Montoya has done a fabulous job in improving the defense.
