A Santa Paula teenager was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Ventura after allegedly beating two other teens with brass knuckles, according to the Ventura Police Department.
Police responded to a shopping center at the corner of Victoria Telegraph Road at 3:17 p.m. after numerous reports were received that a large fight was in progress. Upon officers’ arrival on the scene, witnesses said a large group of juveniles circled two teens and watched as one of them, a 16-year-old from Ventura, was beaten by a boy with brass knuckles.
Witnesses told police a Ventura 17-year-old pulled the attacker off the teen he was beating and then chased the teen with the brass knuckles. He caught up with the attacker near Woodland Street and Hill Road, where the two fought and the 17-year-old was hit with the brass knuckles. Then the teen with the brass knuckles fled into a nearby apartment building.
Police found the teen, a resident of Santa Paula, nearby. He was arrested without incident on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into Juvenile Hall for assault with a deadly weapon. Since the 16-year-old is a juvenile his identity cannot be released.
According to police, the two Ventura teen victims were taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where they were treated for injuries that were not life threatening.
