Santa Paula Fire personnel quickly knocked down a fire in a garage late Wednesday evening. The incident was report at 10:48 p.m. in the 500 block of West Santa Paula Street, just south of the Santa Paula High School campus. The section of Santa Paula Street is lined with a variety of vintage and historical homes.
Those who called 911 to report the April 17 fire told Dispatch that smoke was seen coming from the garage of the residence. Santa Paula Fire engines from Stations 81 and 82 along with Ventura County engines, responded to the blaze.
The fire was declared knocked down at 11 p.m. and although additional units had been requested for mutual aid - standard in reports of structure fires - the call was downgraded.
