The Varsity boys’ baseball nine suffered a 5-3 loss Wednesday to the visiting Malibu Sharks.

Malibu got all of their runs in the third and fourth innings.  Up to that point the Cards had held them at bay. Ramiro Avila started on the mound for Santa Paula. Freshman Tony Contreras took over in relief in the fourth inning.

Avila went 3-3 at the plate, with 2 doubles, scored 2 runs and had 1 RBI. Gabriel Diaz was 2-4 for the day with 1 run. Ryan Montelongo was 1-3 for the day with 2 RBIs.

The JV game, which was scheduled to be played at Malibu, was canceled because of rain.

The varsity plays at Santa Clara next Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The JV will play again at Malibu the same day.
