JV volleyball squad wins, varsity loses to Villanova

The Lady Cardinal JV and varsity volleyball teams played at Villanova Thursday.

The JV came out with a 2-0 victory. The varsity played well but lost 3-0.

JV results:

Santa Paula 25, Villanova 9 (W)

Outstanding players: Iliana de la Trinidad (6 aces), Alondra Navarro (5 aces), Siara Martinez (3 aces)

Varsity results:

Santa Paula 18, Villanova 25 (L)

Santa Paula 17, Villanova 25 (L)

Santa Paula 15, Villanova 25 (L)

Outstanding players: Sammie Rodriguez (4 aces), Sara Martinez (4 aces), Coach Vanessa White said: “Our passing was much better this match. Villanova has a player who is being heavily recruited by MAJOR Division I schools and we dug a number of her hits in addition to passing her incredible jump serve. Our team passed like they were a college team playing against her. We just weren’t as effective with our block as we could be in addition to missing 12 serves.”
