Beautiful clothes and holiday flair highlight ‘California Holidaze’ fashion show
Santa Paula News
By Peggy Kelly Santa Paula TimesIt was beautiful clothes worn with holiday flair at the Soroptimist International of Santa Paula’s “California Holidaze” annual fashion show luncheon and auction held at the Community Center.Added eye-candy at the Nov. 23rd “California Holidaze” were the holiday tables set by SISP members, each of whom used their own favorite china, place settings and decorations to create a wonderland of holiday entertaining themes, from classic to contemporary.“Last year I said how wonderful the holiday tables are,” said SISP President Cynthia Dunbar during her welcoming remarks. “And, again this year, I can’t believe how gorgeous they are. . .”Dunbar noted that holiday bears and stuffed animals were on sale for the drawing and that proceeds of the fashion show are being donated to the SISP scholarship fund and Ventura County Domestic Violence programs.“Domestic violence is on the rise, and we, as Soroptimists, have embraced this cause in the hope that one day all women and children will live safe and happy lives,” said Dunbar. “It is our heartfelt desire to show victims of any type of abuse that this type of behavior is not normal, and that victims do not have to live a life of fear.”Programs adopted by the SISP in the past include purchasing a pediatric crib for Santa Paula Memorial Hospital and an air tank for the fire department, as well as helping to establish the Transitional Living Home in Santa Paula, for victims of domestic abuse and their families. New programs include the Interface Rainbow Closet to help women dress for success as they enter or reenter the workplace and the 911 cell phone program for victims of abuse. The Silent Auction had an emphasis on the holidays with fabulous items that would be not only suitable for great gifts but were perfect for that moment of self-indulgence.
