Frank C. Ritter 1916-2003Frank C. Ritter, a longtime resident of Ventura County, passed away Friday, October 10th after a courageous battle with emphysema.Frank was born on August 10, 1916 to Frank Sr. and Minnie Ritter in Newhall, California. He spent most of his childhood in Saugus before the family moved to Santa Paula. He was also joined by a little sister, Phyllis.Frank went to school in Santa Paula and graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1934. After high school he went to work for his father at Ritter Chrysler here in Santa Paula.In 1937 Frank married his long time high school sweetheart, Louise Drane. They made their home in Santa Paula and in 1940 welcomed their first son, Richard Wayne. Four years later in 1944, Thomas Michael arrived to join his brother. During this time, Frank proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He returned to Santa Paula and went to work for Texaco Oil Co. for several years. He then went back to work for his father and remained in Santa Paula.Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Minnie, his younger sister Phyllis and his son Tom.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 66 years, Louise; his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Laura Ritter of Ventura; his granddaughter Kelly Ritter of Oxnard; his grandson and wife, Brad and Ellen Ritter of San Pedro; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Frank will be greatly missed by all, but we will forever cherish the wonderful 87 years we were able to have him, to enjoy life and raise his family.Graveside services were held October 15 at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula, 525-5595.
